J. Levine Auction and Appraisal partners with Artfact Live! to offer live online bidding on hundreds of museum quality Native American baskets April 30, 2011.  The auction features the Frank E. Curley Family Collection, which includes nearly 400 works, predominantly from Arizona tribes.  The Curley Family Collection is one of the most culturally significant multi-generation collections amassed by a single Arizona family and has been continuously cared for and treasured until the recent death of the family’s last surviving member.  For additional information, or to bid live online from anywhere in the world on Artfact Live! please visit www.Artfact.com.

Highlighting the sale is a Chemehuevi coiled vessel weaved by Mary Snyder.  The circular basket features a rattlesnake and star pattern and measures 16 inches in diameter and 4 inches in depth.  This fine specimen, woven by a well-known artisan, is expected to sell between $18,000 - $25,000.

Also offered is a large Pomo boat shape gift basket.  The basket, woven by the Pomo people of Northern California, contains beautiful ceremonial drops made of shell and also boasts quail topknot feathers.  The oblong piece measures 12 inches in width and 20 inches in length and is estimated to bring $12,500-$15,000.
