Acclaimed Boston crafts school showcases exceptional student and alumni work, May 18-29

North Bennet Street School, Boston’s premier craft, trade and artisan school, presents a two-week exhibition of unique and beautiful objects made by individuals trained at the school.

"Made by Hand: an exhibit of extraordinary craftsmanship" features dozens of one-of-a-kind objects created by North Bennet Street School students and alumni. The wide range of work includes a spice cabinet made of walnut, holly, black locust and cedar; an exquisite 18-karat gold Samurai chain mail bracelet; a replica of a 16th century Gasparo Da Salo violin; and an intricate hand-bound book made of cave paper and goat skin.

The exhibit is open to the public weekdays from Monday, May 18 through Thursday May 28, 8:00am to 5:00pm; Saturday, May 23 from 9am to 4:30pm; and Friday, May 29, 8:00am to noon. (The show is closed Tuesday, May 19 for a private event.) The exhibit is in Windgate Gallery, the new public space at the schools facility at 150 North Street in Boston’s historic North End. Admission is free.

In conjunction with the annual exhibition, a limited number of daily guided tours will be offered beginning Wednesday, May 20th. Tours must be scheduled at least one day in advance. For reservations, contact Chris Jankowski at 617-227-0155, x170 and cjankowski@nbss.edu.
