The Benefit Shop Foundation Inc. will present its next signature Red Carpet auction on Wednesday, Feb. 21, at 10 a.m. Eastern, with a diverse range of goods from Asian and French furniture to decorative arts and fine estate jewelry. Absentee and Internet live bidding is available through LiveAuctioneers.

The monthly Red Carpet sales feature premium collections of antiques, midcentury modern, brand furnishings, sterling, china, crystal, jewelry and fine art. With a mission of “to donate, to discover and to do good,” the foundation is a nonprofit and all auction proceeds support community organizations. Consignors get a tax deduction, the buyer gets a great deal and local nonprofits get much-needed funds.

“This is a terrific auction. We were very fortunate to acquire some high-caliber items and we will be adding to the sale for another 10 days, said founder/president Pam Stone. “In this sale, we have a lot of period French, Deco and Asian antiques, some unusual items and a lot of jewelry. We are really a soup-to-nuts kind of auction.”

The auction is filled with striking items, starting off with lot 1, a life-size gold toned painted Oriental female statue, possibly vintage or antique, marked as copyright ARP, 65 inches tall, as well as a colorful and whimsical folk art reverse painting on glass (above) of a vintage family scene with a cityscape backdrop, 29 by 23 inches, and a bronze Art Deco statuette of a nude woman reclining inside a crescent moon (below), 23 by 20 by 9 inches.

Asian arts will figure prominently in the auction with several choice lacquered examples of antique Chinese furniture crossing the block late in the sale. First up will be a red lacquered chest and mirror, circa 1800-1890, having an intricately painted scene of Chinese children playing outside, 32 ½ inches tall, followed by a 19th-century red lacquer wedding chest, 1860s, Shanxi Province, 78 by 48 by 27 inches. Also highlighting this category will be a set of black lacquer Asian armchairs, including two black-toned lacquered horseshoe chairs, 39 inches tall.

Besides furniture, fine Chinese art and decorative pieces will also be on offer, led by a 19th-century Chinese women’s jacket of celadon-green silk, 78 by 52 inches framed; a pair of museum conservation framed ink and color on silk paintings depicting a classic Chinese landscape scene, 62 by 29 inches; and a pair of imperial yellow temple lions, circa 1860-1880, from the Nanking Province, 17 ½ inches tall.

From Japan’s Meiji period is a bronze sculpture depicting a taka (eagle) in fine detail, 27 by 26 by 11 inches.

This sale is rich in Continental furniture and decoratives, especially works from France. Highlights include a vintage, possibly antique, ornately carved mirror with French Gilded Age elements of scrolls, swags, C and S curves, acanthus leaves and sinuous lines, 54 by 36 inches; a five-arm, French Empire bronze dore hanging chandelier, early 19th century, having gilded lion head decoration, 18 by 24 inches; and a Sevres porcelain gilt bronze pictorial vase made into a table lamp, 29 inches tall.

Midcentury Modern items are still on fire at auction and this sale offers several choice pieces ranging from an architecturally designed bar cart in chrome metal, glass and Lucite to an Italian glass and chrome Baughman era bi-level sawhorse desk having triangle-shaped legs, 60 by 30 inches.

Adding some bling to the auction are fine estate and costume jewelry selections, led by a sterling silver necklace with a natural purple-toned stone pendant. The chain is marked on the ends as 925 Italy.

For those looking to host a formal dinner party, the auction will have several lots of note such as a set of six Bohemia cut crystal colored wine glasses, ornately decorated, green and cranberry toned crystal with clear geometric cut crystal stems. Buyers can also pick up a large set of Royal Copenhagen 1950s Brown Iris china dishes, offering over 78 pieces.
