Because Carlyle’s auctions are completely online, collectors from all over the world, will be bidding from their laptops and smartphones while they relaxing on summer vacations. European collectors have been especially active buyers this summer.

Auction Highlights include:

Rafael Coronel (Mexican, 1932- )

One of the most highly anticipated lots in the auction is a painting by Rafael Coronel, one of the most important Mexican artists of the 1960’s, and a key figure in the Nueva Presencia movement, which sought to represent the individual in society as a more common everyday man in contrast to muralism's heroic figures which was pioneered by Diego Rivera (who was Coronel’s father in law).

The painting being offered by Carlyle is a superb example, painted in 1967, at the height of the artists powers, featuring multiple figures, in a large and desirable format, measuring 59” x 39” inches. The painting was originally purchased from the artist by a Swiss collector in the late 1960’s, and was recently offered at Christie’s Latin Art auction with a $40,000-60,000 estimate. Carlyle’s August 3 auction offers the savvy collector an opportunity to buy this painting at a highly compelling value - bidding starts at just $15,000.

Gustavo Foppiani (1925 - 1986) Italian Modern Painting

Salvador Dali Bronzes

Amongst the many modern sculptures up for bidding in the August 3 auction are two gilt bronze sculptures by surrealist master Salvador Dali.

Other sculpture in the auction includes a large bronze figure of a male torso, by modernist Saul Baizerman (1889-1957), with an estimate of $4,000-6,000, and a kinetic sculpture by Yaacov Agam (Israeli, 1928 - )

Italian Mid-Century Modern Paintings

A highlight of the auction is a collection of Italian mid-century paintings by well listed artists such as Gustavo Foppiani (1925-1986), Luciano Spazzali (1911- ), Losi Cinello (1928-1982). The whimsical, and vibrant paintings are fresh to the market from a Miami collection, and offered at starting bids as low as $500.

As always Carlyle will be offering works by desirable Contemporary artists like Andy Warhol, Takashi Murakami, and Arman, all at reasonable price points.
