In the heart of Miami Downtown, just a few Metromover stops away from the new Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM), Miami River Art Fair reflects the urban landscape of Miami and responds to the city's rapid growth as a cultural destination.
The art fair, as US States’s celebrated art exchange with high internationalization degree, will be grandly held from December 4-7 at Downtown Miami Convention Center. Established in 2012, it has been successfully founded by the Director and Curator Nina Torres, who not only bridged the gap between worldwide and Miami, public and art, but also shaped a paradigm for the domestic art fairs during Art Basel Week.
The juried show is an important event for all collectors and art lovers providing an intimate look at some of the most emerging artists of the international contemporary art movement. A lifelong fascination with painting and installation and its symbolic richness shapes the work of Manuela Cimmino. Her artworks were selected by the Jury Committee to display at Miami River Art Fair this year. About her aesthetic concept Manuela Cimmino explains:
"I am delighetd that my works were selected and represented by Nina Torres Fine Art. My artwork with the title “Tangle” is inspired by a ball of thread which collects the tangled line of our existence. When the bundle resolves, the light of our emotions takes over. It is an eco-friendly piece of art, made up of metalwork and plastic industrial scraps. The work includes a lighting of low power consumption LED based. Another artwork that relates also to our emotions, the ups and downs of life, is finalized in “Ladder”. It is my intention to symbolize the propellant power of energy, pointed on heaven above. Everybody could climb on, but when you want to reach the unknowable, only few people could go on. The walk becomes to open to infinity, riding over the limits.”
Manuela Cimmino was born in Milan (Italy) and studied Fashion Design at the Academy of Milan. The process of creation is essential to understand the concept of Manuela Cimmino. Reviewing her artistic career she mentions:
“I studied to be a fashion designer, and became fond of drawing. I still have dozens of my watercolors cards.
I leaf through them every now and then, remembering the passion and stamina those sketches gave me: the thrill of creation, the tension of the execution and the final astonishment.”
“All sensations that I feel even today, after so many years and so many life’s turning points.
I went through the world of communication, working for many years on radio and tv, discovering in the end that my personal communication tool was actually what I could create with my own hands. Today I model plaster, I recover industrial metal, I pour the cement, I turn on the light, and sometimes, I still grasp my old brush. Life is a chain of surprising emotions. When emotions hit others, passing through you, a new, contagious, breath of life blaze up.”
Through series of installation and paintings Manuela Cimmino creates abstract patterns that evoke an intensely personal sense of the knowing and understanding of the universe. It reveals a richness of vision and energy, rhythm and balance that draws the viewer into the composition. Did you challenge your life? Try it. The sky is your limit!
