Turner Auctions + Appraisals is pleased to offer Fine Asian Works of Art on Sunday, February 24, 2019, at 10:30 am PST.  The sale features over 145 lots of art, sculpture, porcelain, jade and more.  Most are from China and Japan, although Korea, Tibet, Thailand, India and Indonesia are represented as well.  Highlights include important paintings by Li Keran, Qiu Ying, Yang Mingyi and Chiura Obata; an 18th-/19th-century painting of cranes; Han dynasty horses; and an 11th-century Korean bowl.  The sale also offers Ming porcelain pieces; celadon items; jade carvings including buckles, bracelets, seals and a fish bowl; Blanc de Chine figures; agate pendants; snuff bottles; cloisonné; cinnabar vases and boxes; Peking glass bowls; bronze Buddhas; stone carvings and bookends; gilt panels; a Khmer head; an Indian painting on silk; and other decorative items.  From Japan are woodblock prints, textiles such as kimonos, silk panels and fabrics; small carvings of gods; Satsuma and Imari items; bronze vases and censers; tsuba; art pottery; geisha dolls; small furniture pieces; and more.

Lot 56:  Li Keran (1907-1989), Buffaloes and Two Boys under Vines, 1982, ink and color on paper, hanging scroll. 25 ¼ x 17 ¼ inches. Provenance: Acquired 2001. Estimate $50,000 - $70,000

Lot 1:  A Chinese Han terra cotta horse. 14 inches high x 19 wide. Estimate $1,500-2,500.

Lot 57:  Qiu Ying (c. 1494-1551/52) (attributed to). Landscape ink and color on silk, hanging scroll. 44 x 20 inches. Acquired by Dr. Peck, a western medical consultant to the last emperor, in mainland China 1899-1901. Estimate $3,000-5,000.

Lot 29:  19th-century Chinese jade belt buckle. Very well carved 19th-century Chinese jade belt buckle; 3 /4 inch high x 4 wide x 1 deep. Estimate $500-700.

Lot 65:  Chiura Obata (1885 - 1975). Persimmons. Signed lower left. Size: Artwork: 17 1/4 x 22 1/2 inches. Frame: 25 x 29 1/2 inches. 20th century. Water color. Estimate: $1,500-2,500.

Lot 150:  Chinese carved stone screen. A late 19th-/early 20th-century Chinese four panel screen with stone carving details, in good condition with minor abrasions to back. 72 inches high x 64 wide. Estimate: $1,500-2,500.

Lot 42:  A pair of Chinese Republic cinnabar vases. 14 inches high x 4.5 square. Estimate $100-150.

Lot 94:  A very fine 19th-century Japanese polychrome cloisonné vase. 11 inches high x 4 diameter. Estimate $1,000-1,500.

Lot 53:  A very fine 18th- / 19th-century Chinese painting on silk of cranes. 73 inches high x 40 wide. Estimate $2,000-3,000.

Lot 6:  A Chinese terra cotta Han horse and rider. 12 inches high x 12 wide. Estimate $1,200-1,500.

Lot 146:  19th-century Moghul North Indian painting on silk. Frame: 28 inches high x 22 wide. Artwork: 22 inches high 16 wide. Estimate $1,000 - $1,500.

Lot 31:  Chinese jade carved fish bowl. A late 19th-/early 20th-century Chinese carved jade bowl in the shape of a koi fish. 7 1/2 inches wide x 4 deep. Estimate $500-700.

Lot 14:  Exceptional 15th-century Chinese Ming fishbowl shaped celadon planter on stand. 6 1/2 inches high (on stand) x 12 1/4 diameter. Estimate: $700-900.

Lot 95:  A very good, early 20th-century Japanese four-panel screen. 74 inches high x 110 wide. Estimate $200-300.
