NEW YORK, NY – Chelsea’s Agora Gallery will feature the original work of Stephen Najda in A Rich Spring Profusion. The exhibition opens April 18 and runs through May 8, 2019 with an opening reception on Thursday, April 18 from 6-8 pm. Any art lover who enjoys thought-provoking artworks and meeting talented and interesting artists is encouraged to attend.

About the Artist

Stephen Najda explores the human form in all its complexity and from a multitude of perspectives that range from the classical figure to the abstract while creating a juxtaposition of vivid color, delineating line, intriguing forms, and fluid brush strokes. Many of Najda’s paintings, at first, appear impenetrable but ambiguity is the essence of his work; a voyage of discovery and an exploration of the primitive-self while exploring the boundaries between imagination and the subconscious, produce an abstraction of thought. Najda calls this elemental art ‘quantism’.

Najda's work leads the viewer into a mysterious, sparse landscape with ambiguous human forms; creating tension that provokes a wide range of humanistic, scientific, philosophical, and intellectual questions which Najda describes as 'painting the unknown.

On this occasion, at the Agora Gallery, Najda exhibits his work on the Scottish landscape. The powerful and expressive landscape paintings are as enigmatic and individualistic as the artist himself. Najda paints immersed ‘in’ the wild and dramatic Scottish landscape ‘en plein air’ in all weathers, often high in the mountains or exposed to full Atlantic gales, capturing the savage beauty of the land and sea.

Najda was born in Glasgow, Scotland and currently spend his time between both Poland and Scotland. Often described as a ‘Renaissance Man,’ Najda is a polymath in the sciences, literature, and the arts. Najda’s exploration of creative development encompasses mediums that span from painting and drawing to photography, sculpture, and video'.
