Loretta Kaufman’s acrylic painting “Sere Deconstructed II: Circle of Life Series” is one of 48 works selected from 1,900 entries in First Street Gallery’s 2018 National Juried Exhibition. The works range across genres, styles, media and treatments, from figuration to geometric and other non-objective imagery in painting, collage, print, assemblage, photography, and sculpture. The exhibition will take place in New York City in June and July 2018.
In 1969, First Street Gallery opened its doors in Lower Manhattan when the art world was awash in second generation Abstract Expressionism, Pop Art and Minimalism. Gallery founders created an artist-run gallery that heralded a return to figuration in painting, grossly underrepresented at the time. First Street Gallery has been hailed as the most consistently energetic of the several veteran co-operatives that have migrated to Chelsea, and have held National Juried Shows for non-members for more than 30 years.
The 2018 National Juried Exhibition will be held at the Gallery, 526 West 26th Street, Suite 209, New York, NY, June 21 to July 14, 2108. An Opening Reception is planned for June 21 between 6 – 8 pm. For more information, please contact First Street Gallery at www.firststreetgallery.org or by phone at 646-336-8053.
