wndr museum, an immersive art experience in Chicago’s West Loop, announced it will remain open on an ongoing basis, and reaffirmed its commitment to presenting and curating extraordinary experiential art from around the world. Nearly sold-out since inception, wndr began in September 2018 with its first chapter, titled FINITE/INFINITE, a salute to one of the iconic artworks in wndr museum: an Infinity Room by the iconic Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama, the first-ever Kusama Infinity Room exhibited in Chicago.
wndr museum will unfold in a series of chapters, and on Instagram (@wndrmuseum), wndr revealed the name of chapter two: TANGIBLE/INTANGIBLE. wndr has committed to being an ongoing fixture (or component) of Chicago’s cultural fabric.
wndr will continually change installations as new chapters are revealed, treating its guests to an ongoing story that unfolds chapter by chapter, with no certain time period for the life of each installment. The end of Chapter One: FINITE/INFINITE will be March 31st, and tickets for the final days went on sale at wndrmuseum.com on February 21st.
“With each new chapter, wndr will reimagine itself and reveal the work of amazing experiential artists from around the world. Like the sense wonder itself, wndr museum will constantly evolve, providing guests the opportunity to experience wndr again and again," said lifelong entrepreneur Brad Keywell, wndr’s founder and curator. “wndr’s mission is to create joy, kindle possibility, provoke curiosity, and inspire each guest to uncover their sixth sense – wonder – through amazing experiential art.”
Chapter Two: TANGIBLE/INTANGIBLE, its opening date to be first announced through wndr’s popular Instagram, will present new installations and experiences in the majority of its winding West Loop space. At the same time, wndr will maintain some of its most popular elements.
Let’s Survive Forever, Kusama’s Infinity Room, will remain as the culmination of the wndr experience. Let’s Survive Forever is considered to be the culmination of Kusama’s work in the experiential medium, and is the first and only Infinity Room of its kind in the world. At 89, Kusama is the top-selling female artist in the world. Artworks by world-renowned artists Barbara Kruger and Richard Prince will also continue as part of wndr, as will wndr’s popular resident poets who create on-demand, personalized, take-home poetry for wndr guests.
“Since wndr opened last fall, more than 150,000 guests from around the world have been delighted and inspired by our experiential art, blending emerging local artists and internationally recognized figures alike,” said executive director Molly Vaile. “We’re thrilled to continue to offer the gift of wndr to Chicago, while presenting a new chapter of our emerging story.”
wndr has sold more than 95 percent of its tickets to date, with timed tickets providing an even flow and ensuring that each guest receives the signature wndr experience, delivered by nearly 30 wndr Ambassadors who bring wndr to life. Timed entry tickets will continue to be released via four-week blocks. March tickets for wndr, the last month for guests to experience the FINITE/INFINITE chapter, will be available to the public for purchase on wndrmuseum.com on February 21st.
