William Bunch Auctions is hosting their end of summer Hybrid Auction. A hybrid sale is a cross between a catalog auction and a regular biweekly sale. An array of higher-end items will be available for online bidding through Live Auctioneers and Invaluable while other lots will only be purchasable by live in-house bidders. The auction starts at 10am on Tuesday, August 30th, 2016.

The sale is freckled with an array of American decorative arts and antiques, including Victorian Gone with the Wind lamps, oil lamps, occupational shaving mugs, Roly Poly Brownie tobacco tins, WWII Propaganda pins, Baccarat & art glass, stoneware, redware, woven baskets, buckets, pantry boxes, wrought iron, cast iron, pewter, walking sticks, carved & painted decoys, coverlets, etc.

A private collector in Williamstown, New Jersey consigned nearly 100 Victorian lamps along with over 30 pieces of blue decorated stoneware, and 38 clocks.

The assortment of clocks includes tall clocks, shelf clocks, wall clocks, wag-on-a-wall clocks, Art Nouveau mantle clocks, China case clocks, French figural clocks, Victorian clocks and more. A circa 1800 Mahogany 8-day tall clock is expected to bring $1,500 – 2,500. A fascinating mixed wood folk art cathedral clock that will surely catch a few collectors’ eyes is estimated at $400 – 800.

Some unique lots include 7 “Roly Poly” tobacco tins. All original and scarcely found on today’s collectable market, these tins date back to circa 1912. In this year, Mayo’s Tobacco Company packaged their cut plug tobacco in tins with lithographed characters that each held 1 pound of tobacco and was opened by untwisting the head. The tobacco tins are estimated to bring anywhere from $100 – 600 per unit.

Additionally, the hybrid sale will feature 18 different occupational shaving mugs. At the turn of the 20th century, barbershops across the US displayed personalized shaving mugs of their shop attendees. The mugs generally had the customer’s name, and a hand-painted sketch of his occupation. The mugs are expected to bring anywhere between $100 – 400 each.

The August Hybrid features some gorgeous furniture selections including a 7 piece carved Mahogany French style bedroom suite ($1,200 – 1,800), a pair of Mahogany American Federal banquet table ends ($600 – 1,200), and a chic Arne Vodder for Sibast rosewood dining room suite ($2,000 – 4,000). Other items include armchairs, end tables, jelly cupboards, coffee tables, servers, etc.

Drawing in fine art collectors, the sale will feature everything from oil paintings to digital print photography to signed serigraphs. A Dutch School oil on canvas portrait titled Bog with Rommelpot is estimated at $600 – 1,200. The auction features another Dutch artist, Lodewikl Bruckman (1913-1980). Bruckman’s oil on canvas titled Still Life with Fruit, Basket, and Cloth is expected to bring $600 – 1,200. Several digital prints by James Pryor (American, 20th c) will be offered.
