Coagula Curatorial (Los Angeles) is pleased to present new works by Los Angeles painter JILL EMERY. Opening Reception will be held on Saturday May 28, from 7-11pm at 974 Chung King Road, in the historic Chinatown district of Los Angeles. The exhibit runs May 28 thru June 24.
Jill Emery is a founding member of the rock band HOLE and was additionally a member of MAZZY STAR. A self-taught expressionist yet delicate painter, she has been active in the Los Angeles art scene for nearly 25 years.
In these new works, philosophical and/or spiritual searches become realized as metaphoric self portraits – whether as a dialogue between a woman and a rainbow, a horse harnessing its own energy to find its way, or a universal bra that offers what we may all need.
In January 2016, the artist was selected as the grand winner of the “Ten Top Artists” group exhibit at Coagula Curatorial, juried by Tulsa Kinney (Editor-in-Chief, Artillery Magazine). This is her first solo show with Coagula Curatorial.
Also opening the same evening on Chung King Road,
