Famed architect Frank Gehry is collaborating with Thomas Krens to design the Extreme Model Railroad and Contemporary Architecture Museum in North Adams, Mass. Gehry and Krens have worked on other projects together, including the design of the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain.

The 83,000-square-foot new museum is estimated to cost around $65 million. About $2.5 million has been raised so far. Exhibition space will feature scale model trains moving through architectural dioramas of significant buildings worldwide.

The town of North Adams already boasts Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art (Mass MoCA) for which Gehry designed initial plans. The new museum is part of a plan to revitalize North Adams with a downtown luxury hotel, renovation of the Mohawk Theater and more to come.
