YOSHITOSHI, HASUI, YOSHIDA, AND HIROSHIGE IN RAGO’S ASIAN ART AUCTION - LIVE AND ONLINE ONLY ON BIDSQUARE - THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 10 AT 10 AM

Lambertville, NJ: On Thursday, September 10 at 10 a.m., The Rago Arts and Auction Center will hold a live, online only auction of 100 lots of Japanese woodblocks and other Asian art exclusively on Bidsquare.com.

The auction features work by Kawase Hasui, Hiroshi Yoshida, Utagawa Hiroshige and other printmakers, as well as original Asian watercolors and ink scrolls. It includes Tsukioka Yoshitoshi’s complete series The Faithful Samurai (lot 4031), estimated at $4,000-6,000. The woodcuts (all framed) tell the story of forty-seven Ronin who, in the early 18th century, sought revenge for the humiliation that led their Lord, Asano Takumi-no-Kami of Ako, to commit ritual suicide (seppuku).
