Jackson, WY: The National Museum of Wildlife Art’s (NMWA) largest and longest-running fundraiser, Western Visions, is continuing on its 35th year this September. With the Museum also celebrating 35 years, the event has a few new exciting elements, including over 30 artworks available for purchase during a new live auction on Thursday, September 15, 2022.
A signature event of the Jackson Hole Fall Arts Festival, the Western Visions Show + Sale will be held on Thursday, September 15, from 5 – 8 p.m. Featuring a wide range of traditional and contemporary artworks and showcasing both paintings and sculptures, the show and sale includes more than 170 artists. In addition to the 34 live auction pieces, the sale will feature nearly 140 small format works available via an intent to purchase draw. The live auction will begin at 6 p.m. in the Cook Auditorium, and Jason Brooks will serve as auctioneer. Live auction bidding is available in-person during the event, via absentee, and online now through LiveAuctioneers or Bidsquare. Following the conclusion of the auction, attendees will have a final opportunity to enter the drawing for intent to purchase pieces before winners are drawn at 7:45 p.m. The evening will conclude with a celebratory Dessert After-Party from 8 – 9:30 p.m. There are three ways to participate in this year’s event—in-person, online, or via proxy. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased at wildlifeartevents.org, where collectors can also browse the entire online catalog.
"We are thrilled to welcome over 170 artists to the 2022 Western Visions Show + Sale,” says the Museum’s Director of Programs and Events Michelle Dickson. “This year's show proudly offers a diverse range of artworks, mediums, and price points that will appeal to both emerging and established collectors." Money raised from this fundraiser supports participating artists and the Museum. Museum Director Steve Seamons commented, saying, “This year’s roster of artists includes longtime favorites and stalwart supporters of the Museum as well as exciting newcomers and first-time Western Visions participants. Across the board, the caliber of art on offer this year is truly amazing—we are celebrating 35 years with a bang!”
The Western Visions exhibition will be open from September 10 – October 2. In addition, an Artist’s Panel discussion will take place at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, September 14, with Western Visions artists Laney, Ron Gaines, and John Potter addressing the theme “The Intersection of Relationships and Art.” The public is invited and encouraged to attend.
