Tony Fusco and Robert Four, producers of the annual Boston International Fine Art Show (BIFAS), are pleased to announce the dates for the Nineteenth Annual Show: October 22–25, 2015, moving from its traditional November time slot. The show will open with a Gala Preview party on Thursday October 22 from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm to benefit the McMullen Museum of Art at Boston College. For more information on the museum, visit www.bc.edu/artmuseum. Weekend hours for BIFAS are Friday 1 pm–8 pm, Saturday 11 am–8 pm, and Sunday 11 am–5 pm. Tickets are $15, under 12 free. Tickets include complimentary admission to panel discussions and lectures by guest scholars, re-admission, show catalog, and coat check. A bistro café and discount and valet parking are also available. For information, visit www.FineArtBoston.com or call 617.363.0405.

The McMullen Museum of Art has offered world-class exhibitions in Devlin Hall on Boston College’s Chestnut Hill campus since 1993. Having outgrown its present facilities and thanks to a generous lead gift from the McMullen Family Foundation, the Museum has embarked on the renovation of and an addition to a Renaissance Revival palazzo at 2101 Commonwealth Avenue, which will serve as its new, expanded home upon completion in 2016.

The McMullen Museum plays a major role in the cultural and intellectual life of the University as well as in the broader community of scholars and art enthusiasts. It has won critical acclaim from national and international media for its exhibitions and publications that break new ground from an interdisciplinary perspective, recently featuring such varied subjects as Cuban surrealist Wifredo Lam, Roman provincial art and archaeology, twentieth-century French photography, and sixteenth-century Japanese folding screens. From September 1 to December 5, 2015, the McMullen Museum will mount John La Farge and the Recovery of the Sacred, the first major exhibition to highlight the religious aspects of the artist’s work. “The enlarged galleries of the new museum will allow for greater flexibility to expand and/or mount simultaneous exhibitions. The glass addition to the building will enhance the visitor experience, inviting even more of the Greater Boston community to participate in the McMullen’s programming which is always free and open to the public,” said McMullen Museum Director and Professor of Art History Nancy Netzer.

Diversity is the key word for BIFAS, returning for its nineteenth year, the only show of its kind in New England. With no restrictions on the type of work that may be shown, works on offer range from fine original prints priced at a few hundred dollars to museum-quality masterpiece paintings priced in the millions. The show enjoys a mix of blue chip traditional works, twentieth-century modernist genres, a wide spectrum of art from numerous countries, and outstanding emerging and established contemporary artists.

“We are thrilled to be able to offer the Gala this year as a benefit for the McMullen Museum,” comments Co-Producer Tony Fusco. “The McMullen Museum has proven that even smaller institutions can do groundbreaking work and expand the richness of our cultural heritage to new audiences. It deserves our support.”

“We are pleased and honored to be the beneficiary of this year’s Boston International Fine Art Show which for nearly two decades has contributed so much to the development of collections, both public and private in our region of the country,” said Nancy Netzer.

The show takes place at The Cyclorama at the Boston Center for the Arts, built in 1884 to house a huge circular painting of the battle of Gettysburg. The Cyclorama is also home to Fusco & Four’s AD20/21: Art & Design of the 20th & 21st Centuries and Boston Print Fair, now in its ninth year (www.AD2021.com) and the Boston Home Décor Show taking place November 19–22, 2015 (www.BostonHomeDecorShow.com).
