Tippet Rise Art Center

On the heels of a vibrant second concert season, Tippet Rise Art Center was announced on Friday, September 29 as the “Best Museum of the Year, North America” by the 2017 Leading Cultural Destinations Awards, a prestigious award recognizing institutions, organizations, and cities that have provided exemplary contributions to local cultural life. The awards ceremony took place in London, at the Trafalgar St James Hotel.

Set beneath the big sky of Montana at the foot of the Beartooth Mountains, Tippet Rise opened in 2016 as a destination for local residents and international visitors to celebrate the union of land, art, architecture, and music.

The 2017 Award winners represent a growing trend of new cultural spaces outside traditional, artistic geographic hubs, opening up opportunities for new audiences and accessibility. Tippet Rise Art Center, in Fishtail, Montana, has created an unexpected oasis that presents concerts by world-renowned musicians and young artists, and large-scale contemporary sculpture on a 10,260-acre working sheep and cattle ranch.

The 2017 Jury included Andrea Morgante, architect and designer; Claus Sendlinger, Founder & CEO of Design Hotels; Petite Miller, musician and artist; Simon Rawlings, creative director at David Collins; Professor Geoffrey Lipman, SUNx Co-Founder; Greta Bellamacina, poet and filmmaker; Mon Muellerschoen, founder of MM-Artmanagment; Jenny Mannerheim, CEO of Each x Other; Catherine Tabone, executive director of Valletta 2018 Foundation; and Jeremy Jauncey, founder of Beautiful Destinations.
