The Art of Japan

Medina, WA, March 10, 2015 – In an Asia Week exhibition held in New York City, The Art of Japan will present a broad range of prints and paintings of the 18th through 20th centuries.  Available for viewing will be hundreds of prints that chronicle Japanese art as it was when the country was still isolated through the period when Japanese culture and the country opened up to the West and beyond.

Fine Japanese Prints, Edo to Taisho/Showa Periods includes many works, and of particular interest is a collection of more than 30 deluxe-state prints by Utagawa Hiroshige (1797 – 1858) prints from the series 100 Famous Views of Edo, which is a landmark in Japanese art.  The series on view is in exceptional condition, and the works’ brilliance of color and condition is greater than related series in numerous public collections.

Beyond the Hiroshige edition, The Art of Japan will have on hand new acquisitions that are infrequently available elsewhere.  Other offerings may be seen at www.theartofjapan.com.

The Art of Japan, based in Medina, WA, handles Japanese prints and paintings from 18th century to early Modern periods.  The Art of Japan is a JADA Affiliate, Member of the IFPDA, FADA,  CINOA, and The Ukiyo-e Dealer’s Association of Japan.
