ATLANTA, Ga. – Over 600 exceptional lots from prominent local estates and collections – to include original artwork, Asian objects, estate jewelry, European and American period furniture, decorative accessories and more – will be sold at a Summer Estates Auction slated for Sunday, June 28th, by Ahlers & Ogletree, in the firm’s gallery at 715 Miami Circle (Ste. 210) in Atlanta.

Doors will open at 10 a.m. Eastern time and the auction will get underway promptly at 11 a.m. Internet bidding provided by LiveAuctioneers.com, Invaluable.com and Bidsquare.com. This auction comes on the heels of Ahlers & Ogletree’s highly successful Spring Salon Auction, held May 2-3. The top lot was a rare 1987 Porsche 911 Turbo Carrera Cabriolet that fetched $79,500.

The Summer Estates Auction will feature two marquis sports cars, including another Porsche – a 2006 Boxster Cabriolet. The other car is a highly desirable 2006 BMW M5, a one-owner vehicle with just 11,000-plus original miles on the odometer. It’s painted Interlagos metallic blue, with a black Merino leather interior. Costing $90,375 new, the car boasts upgraded springs and exhaust.

Original artwork will include a 1918 oil on canvas portrait painting by the Ashcan School artist Robert Henri (N.Y./Pa./Oh., 1865-1929), titled Spanish Girl With Flowers, signed, 36 ¾ inches by 31 ½ inches framed; and an oil on canvas interior scene with three figures by Walter Dendy Sadler (Am./Brit., 1854-1923), titled The Secret, artist signed, 33 inches by 30 ¼ inches, framed.

Two signed oil on canvas paintings by Anthony Thieme (Calif./Pa., 1888-1954) will come up for bid. One, titled Two Fishing Boats, is a marine painting of two fishing boats docked at a marina, 34 ¾ inches by 40 ¾ inches framed. The other shows a group of fishermen on the beach at dawn, titled Pescadores en la Manana (or ‘Fishermen in the Morning’), 31 inches by 36 inches framed.

Rounding out the fine art category is an unsigned oil on canvas painting attributed to Pieter Hardime (Flemish/Dutch, 1677-1758), titled Flowers in Wicker Basket, 29 ½ inches by 37 ½ inches framed. Also sold will be a 1777 French Louis XV Aubusson rectangular tapestry textile panel with ornate pink floral and green leaf and vine decoration, 111 ½ inches by 52 ½ inches.

Chinese vertical scroll pairs (or couplets), adorned with lovely hand-applied calligraphic writing and decorations, are huge with collectors, and this auction features one example on bright pink silk, authored by Emperor Chien Lung, who reigned from 1736-1796, 18 ½ inches by 65 ½ and 69 ½ inches; and one on ivory rice paper by Kang Youwei (1858-1927), 81 inches by 19 inches.

Nineteenth century English period furniture will include a rare red-lacquered George IV Regency chinoiserie decorated partner’s desk, heavily decorated with flowers, trees, birds and animals, all in a scenic landscape; and a rare pair of George II Chippendale-style mahogany and parcel gilt decorated console tables, done in the manner of Giles Grendey (1693-1780).

Additional furniture will feature a pair of late 19th century Regency-style mirror image récamiers (or fainting couches), with carved rosewood frames, striped silk upholstery and inlaid decoration; and a fine 18th century French Provincial period walnut commode with molded serpentine top over a conforming case containing three long molded panel drawers and raised on cabriole legs.

The estate jewelry category will include a circa 1960s Italian ladies’ bracelet with flared leaf-like forms in black onyx or quartz and set in 18kt yellow gold and diamond encrusted segments in 18kt white and yellow gold, 7 ½ inches long; and a hand-made 18kt yellow gold octagonal Columbian emerald ring, ring size 7, weighing about 4.20 carats total and boasting SI2 clarity.

The auction will also feature a bronze statue by Erté titled Astra; three Chinese iron sculptures titled Fu, Lu and Shou; a 10-volume set of circa 1810 leather bound books; a lovely pair of Rose Medallion vases; a Chinese cloisonné child’s rice set; a Persian Ferdows rug; a handsome pair of blackamoors by Josephine Mead; and oil paintings by Robert Payton Reid and Owen Bowen.

Previews will be held on Wednesday, June 24, through Friday, June 26, from 10-6 p.m.. An evening wine and cheese preview party will be held Thursday, June 25, until 9 p.m. Doors will open on June 28, auction day, at 10 a.m., with the first gavel falling at 11 a.m. Telephone and absentee bids will be accepted up to 24 hours prior to the official start of auction on June 28th.
