RAGO HOLDS 200 LOT COLLECTIBLE COINS, CURRENCY AND STAMP AUCTION ON SEPTEMBER 10, 3 PM.

 

Lambertville, NJ: The Rago Arts and Auction Center will hold a Coins, Currency and Stamps auction on Thursday, September 10, at 3 p.m., with over 200 lots of fine rare collectible U.S. and foreign coins and currency, collectible stamps, and U.S. and world medals and medallions, featuring the world stamp collection of Dr. Robert Peter Turk. Preceding this sale at 10 a.m. is a live, online only auction of Asian art held exclusively on Bidsquare.com. And on Friday, September 11, Rago will hold its first Great Estates auction of the season.

 

The auction of coins, currency and stamps begins with some 50 lots of world stamps with a detailed focus on India and British colonies from the collection of Dr. Robert Peter Turk, a distinguished soldier, a committed physician, a scholar, and an outstanding educator.  Stamps in his collection hail from British and French colonies and Protectorates, Falkland Islands, Barbados, Mauritius, Natal, St. Helena, Ascension Island, South Africa, Niger Coast, Sierra Leone, British Somaliland, Senegal, Afghanistan and Iran, Oman, Aden, Egypt, Cyprus, Turkey, Bulgaria, Germany, Greece, Belgium, Malta, Gibraltar, India, Pakistan, North Borneo, Ceylon, French Oceania, New Zealand, Australia, and Papua New Guinea. The collectible 19th and 20th century world coins for sale come from India, Korea, China, Morocco, South Africa, Thailand, Egypt, United Arab Emirates, Philippines, Fiji, Polynesia, and Malaya, Australia, Curacao, Bermuda, Bahama, France, Italy, Turkey, England, Netherlands, Switzerland, Hungary, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Greece, Portugal, Spain, Romania, Poland, Bulgaria, Germany, Austria, Czechoslovakia, Serbia, Lithuania, Ecuador, Uruguay, Columbia, Venezuela, Brazil, Honduras, Panama, Guatemala, Peru, Canada, and Mexico. There are medals depicting Napoleon, George Washington, Wells Fargo, and Haverford College, as well as Liberty Gold Medals. U.S. coins and tokens include Liberty, St. Gaudens Indian Head gold coins, Eagle coins, Confederate Colonial Currency, U.S. currency, U.S. proof coins, Buffalo nickels, Mercury coins, Morgan silver dollars, U.S. Peace silver dollars, and Washington, Franklin, and Kennedy silver coins.
