Paciel González, Rincón con Flores Rojas, Digital, 24'' x 36''

NEW YORK, NY – Chelsea’s Agora Gallery will feature the original work of  Paciel González in The Latin American Contemporary Fine Art Competition. The exhibition opens December 5 and runs through December 15, 2018 with an opening reception on Thursday, December 6 from 6-8 pm. Any art lover who enjoys thought-provoking artworks and meeting talented and interesting artists is encouraged to attend.

About the Artist

In his digital and mixed media artwork, the Cuban-born artist Paciel González pursues the qualities of weightlessness and monumentality. These two characteristics may certainly appear contradictory: monumentality is easily associated with gravity rather than weightlessness. But González, who draws his inspiration from images of the cosmos, achieves both. In his digital prints the artist creates abstract, dreamlike compositions of nebulae and distant galaxies. In some of his more recent works, such as Rincón con Flores Rojas and Flores Tropicales, González turns his attention to more earthly matters. In these pieces, green, red and sky-blue shapes refer to the natural world as we experience it. Even so, the artist arranges these shapes on the canvas as though they were in a space free of gravity.

González studied architecture and museology in his native Havana and in the U.S.S.R. He currently resides in Bilbao, Spain, where he has a successful design studio. He is a multidisciplinary artist, who works as an interior designer and architect in addition to being a fine artist.
