NEW YORK, NY, November 6, 2014—Chubb Personal Insurance will be the presenting sponsor of the 61st annual Winter Antiques Show, expanding its 19-year affiliation with one of the top international fine art and antiques events.
A leading provider of insurance for private collectors of art, antiques, jewelry and other valuables, Chubb previously sponsored the loan exhibition at the show. The 2015 show, which will run January 23 through February 1 at the Park Avenue Armory in New York City, will feature 73 exhibitors of fine and decorative art, from antiquities through the 1960s. Net proceeds from the event benefit East Side House Settlement, which provides access to quality education and technology training to students in the South Bronx and surrounding communities.
“The Winter Antiques Show is the premier event of its kind, and it will provide Chubb with an opportunity to demonstrate our continued and deep support of the art community,” said Kathleen Tierney, chief operating officer of Chubb Personal Insurance and chair of the Winter Antiques Show’s opening night party. “We’re also pleased to know that our sponsorship will support East Side House Settlement as it strives to help students graduate from high school, attend college and, ultimately, secure good jobs.”
Chubb will be involved in several activities at the show, including organizing and hosting a panel discussion on the conservation and restoration of art and antiques. In addition, Chubb fine art specialists will conduct a continuing education class for insurance agents and brokers.
“Chubb has been an invaluable source of support over the past 19 years, and we are thrilled that they are now our presenting sponsor,” said Arie L. Kopelman, co-chair of the Winter Antiques Show. “Their deep knowledge of the decorative and fine art business makes them an important resource for collectors and dealers. Chubb is the perfect partner for the Winter Antiques Show.”
Earlier this year, Chubb created the Fine Art Practice, which brings together the expertise of its fine art resources worldwide in underwriting, loss prevention, appraisal and claims to respond to the evolving needs of its personal insurance clients with large and valuable collections.
The practice has access to 20 fine art and collector specialists in the United States who provide consulting and other services to clients who have a Chubb Valuable Articles insurance policy. The specialists, many of whom have degrees and other training in art and have worked in museums, galleries and auction houses, have extensive knowledge in assessing risks in homes, offices, galleries, art warehouses and other locations where collections may be kept. They can provide fire protection and security recommendations and general conservation and preservation advice. They also offer referrals to the Masterpiece® Protection Network, which is comprised of independent experts in appraisal, collection management, conservation and restoration, shipping, storage and security.
Chubb’s Valuable Articles policy provides worldwide coverage for fine art and antiques, jewelry, furs, silverware, musical instruments, and stamps, coins and other collectibles. The policy includes coverage for breakage, mysterious disappearance and newly-acquired items, as well as inflation protection.
