WHO: Massachusetts College of Art and Design (MassArt), the nation’s only independent public college of art and design, celebrates its 25th Annual Benefit Art Auction with a selection of over 300 artworks from painting to sculpture by national and international artists. The MassArt Auction annually draws a crowd of over 650 collectors and art enthusiasts seeking to view and purchase exceptional contemporary art while supporting the nation’s leading public art college. All proceeds support student scholarships and academic programming at MassArt.
WHAT: Over 300 works of contemporary art in live and silent auctions. Work from nationally and internationally renowned artists will be auctioned off, including Ambreen Butt (MassArt ’97), Sanford Biggers, Mark Cooper, Steve Locke (MassArt ’01/Faculty), Laura McPhee (MassArt Faculty), Abe Morell (MassArt Faculty, Sheila Pepe (MassArt '83), Robert Rauschenberg, Alexis Rockman, Sarah Sze, Esteban Vicente and Andy Warhol.
** Digital Bidding hosted by Paddle8 – First time this technology will be fully used in New England!:
Paddle8 is the online auction house that gives collectors around the world a bidding advantage for the MassArt auction. All artwork in the live and silent auctions will be available for preview through Paddle8 starting March 18; online bidding begins March 28th. Silent Auction bidding via iPad Bidding Kiosk and iPhone app: Paddle8 will host paperless bidding during the silent auction on April 12th through their Paddle8 iPad bidding kiosks (first time use at a New England auction) as well as on Paddle8’s iPhone app that collectors can download (app is only available for iPhone at this time). Bidding on all silent auction items ends at 10:30 pm on April 12.Live Auction bidding and Proxy: For those that are interested in bidding in the live auction but are unable to attend the event they can preview the artwork online through Paddle8 and can visit massartauction.org for more details regarding proxy bidding.
