VAN BRIGGLE/ROOKWOOD VASE SELLS FOR $187,500; PAUL EVANS SCULPTURE FRONT CABINET SELLS FOR $175,000 IN RAGO’S $4.6 MILLION 20TH CENTURY DESIGN AUCTIONS, JUNE 4-5.
Lambertville, NJ: Rago Arts and Auction Center's 20th C. Decorative Arts and Design Auction series brought in $4,612,969 over the weekend, June 4-5. The “Top Lot” of the weekend was lot 88, a Van Briggle/Rookwood vase, which sold for $187,500, well over the estimate of $70,000-100,000. The second day of the auction saw the sale of a Paul Evans sculpture front cabinet for $175,000; and a Dale Chihuly chandelier for $56,375, which came to Rago’s from the Nassau County Museum of Art in Roslyn Harbor, New York.
