iGavel Achieves Record Sales of Over $3.5 Million

The iGavel Auctions sale of Asian, Ancient, and Ethnographic Works of Art presented by Lark Mason and Associates that closed on October 26, 2012, had 233 sold lots resulting in a total of over $3,500,000. Buyers were from many countries, with a large group of successful bidders from the People's Republic of China.

"As iGavel approaches its' tenth year, this Asian sale represents the strongest auction in the company's history, and is a testament to a deep knowledge of the Asian art and antiquities market," said its founder Lark Mason.

Six lots sold above $100,000 each, and received 197 bids.The top ten lots realized over $2.4 million, and received over 350 bids. The high-value lot from this auction was a Chinese Imperial Carved Zitan Armchair, 18th Century, which sold for $1 million and had 43 bids.

Other highlights include: a Chinese Pale Celadon Jade Ruyi Scepter, 18th Century, which sold for $348,000; a Chinese Zitan, Hardstone, Gilt-Bronze, Silver, and Other Materials Miniature Mountain, 19th C., which sold for $258,000; a Large Chinese Pale Celadon Jade Vase with Cover, Republic Period, which sold for $180,000; a Chinese Bronze Ritual Vessel with Inscription to the Interior, 1100-1000 B.C., which sold for $156,000; and a Chinese Cloisonne Gu-Form Vase, 18th Century, which sold for $ 114,186.
