DALLAS--A new survey posted at the online web magazine Urban Art & Antiques seeks to gauge the popularity of industry terms on an ongoing basis. The Industry Pulse Survey allows visitors to rate terms like vintage, antique, collecting, exclusive, accessible, flea market and more on a scale ranging from "It's Hot" to "I don't like it."

"We hear a lot of words thrown around, among them repurposing and vintage; what we want to get a handle on is how much they are in play," says site publisher Eric Miller. "The survey also doesn't have an end date. That fact will help us keep an ongoing monitor of what's in and out, hot and not."

So far, Miller says, there are a few items of note. Vintage is currently the term with the most popular appeal. On the other end of the spectrum are "contemporary" and "small shows."

"That can all change with a few votes," Miller says. "And we expect it to change over time as the industry changes."

The survey also allows visitors to add their own terms to be rated, subject to editorial revisions. Recently the terms "art as investment" and "antiques as investment" were narrowed into one response term "investment."

"We try not to be too specific," Miller says.
