Colin Grant. When in Rome. Oil on Canvas. 48"x38"

The Australian and New Zealander artists featured in Out From Down Under & Beyond represent some of the finest emerging talent from the Oceanian art world. These artists draw inspiration from their nations’ histories, their natural splendor, the artists’ own travels across the globe, and their internal processes. They offer a unique and unforgettable view into a familiarly unfamiliar world. In Nicole Tremblay’s paintings, displayed in the solo exhibition, Sovereign Women / Femmes Souveraines, female subjects take on a presence that is larger than life. “I have always been fascinated by the presentation of women,” the artist says, “and the inspiration that they represent in art, as far back as the art of ancient Greece.”

The talented and diverse group of artists in the exhibition Portal of Enigma present a unique and otherworldly intensity in their works: abstracting and rebuilding their universes in sharp satires, high-energy color explosions, or calm geometries. Contemporary Perspectives features a group of artists who, by distorting or reproducing dimensionality, can invent captivating worlds with paint. With the occasionally abstracting element, these artists explore personalities of nature and people in landscapes, still lifes, and human scenes.

The exhibitions open on May 19th and run until June 9th, 2015. The opening reception will take place Thursday, May 21st, from 6-8 PM. The exhibition and opening reception are open to the public.
