Little is known of Henry W. Kemper’s background or art training; however, he is known primarily for his landscapes typically depicting river valley settings. He had made at least one excursion to the Adirondack Mountains and Lake George areas, as this painting, titled “Lake George”, so wonderfully documents. He is also known to have painted the scenic Ohio River Valley.
