HARLEM BROTHER WITH BOW TIE - 2020

LINE ART CONTINUES TO INSPIRE MY IMAGINATION
AND I HAVE BECOME ADDICTED TO IT OVER THE LAST
20 YEARS OF MY LIFE AND ART CAREER. MY FASCINATION
WAS SPARKED BY THE ICONIC CREATIONS OF BOTH
PABLO PICASSO AND HENRI MATISSE, ALSO TO MENTION
CUBISM, ANOTHER PROFOUND INSPIRATION.
ROMARE BEARDEN, GEORGES BRAQUE, MARCEL DUCHAMP
AND JUAN GRIS, BACK TO PICASSO. ALWAYS PICASSO.
IN THIS WORK CREATED IN WHITE CONTE CRAYON,
A MEDIUM CREATED CENTURIES AGO, I DRAW DIRECTLY
ON BLACK MIXED MEDIA PAPER, THERE ARE NO PRECONCEPTIONS
OR DRAWINGS TO TRACE OVER. WHAT YOU SEE IS WHAT
OCCURED AND THAT'S HOW I PREFER IT TO BE,
I LOVE WATCHING THE BIRTH OF THE ARTWORK AND
FOLLOWING MY INSTINCTS, TO THE FINISHED WORK.
AS MENTIONED MANY TIMES BEFORE, AT SOME POINT IN TIME
I PLAN TO HAVE AN EXHIBIT OF MY LINE ART DRAWINGS,
THE CALIFORNIA AFRICAN MUSEUM EXHIBITED LINE ART
OF JOSEPHINE BAKER, ELLA FITZGERALD AND BILLIE HOLIDAY.
STAY BLESSED, MK/ARTIST
