Reef Dwellers Art Show by Selva Ozelli for 2022 World Environment and Oceans Days

Led by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), and held annually since 1973,World Environment Day 2022 is the biggest international day for the environment. it has grown to be the largest global platform for environmental outreach. It is celebrated by millions of people across the world and is hosted by Sweden in 2022 with a theme of “Only One Earth" focusing on “Living Sustainably in Harmony with Nature”.
"To achieve the Sustainable Development Goals and the objectives of the Paris Agreement on climate change, we urgently need collective action to revitalize the ocean. That means finding a new balance in our relationship with the marine environment" explains UN Secretary-General António Guterres.
Becasue the ocean covers over 70% of the planet. It is our life source, supporting humanity’s sustenance and that of every other organism on earth. It produces at least 50% of the planet’s oxygen, it is home to most of earth’s biodiversity, and is the main source of protein for more than a billion people around the world. Not to mention, the ocean is key to our economy with an estimated 40 million people being employed by ocean-based industries by 2030. With 90% of big fish populations depleted, and 50% of coral reefs destroyed, we are taking more from the ocean than can be replenished. "Revitalization: collective action for the ocean" is the theme for World Oceans Day 2022, a year framed by the UN Decade of Ocean Science.
Reef Dwellers art show by artist Selva Ozelli, a member of Climate Heritage Network, is endorsed by UN Ocean Decade: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c7YuGrfSTyc. It celebrates the role of the oceans in our everyday life and inspires action to protect reefs which occupy only 0.1 per cent of the global sea surfaces. But more than 25 per cent of marine biodiversity is supported by them. The art show features the following fish:
Angle Fish (French & Mango): Native to Western Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.
Anthias (Sunburst): Native to tropical and subtropical Atlantic and Western Pacific Oceans.
Beaugregory Fish: Native to western Atlantic Ocean.
Blue Tang Fish: Native to Indo-Pacific Oceans.
Cardinal Fish (Banggai & Pajama): Native to the Banggai Islands of Indonesia and the western Pacific Ocean.
Chromis Fish (Blue & Green): Native to the Indo-Pacific Oceans, including the Red Sea.
Clown Fish: native to the Indo-Pacific Oceans, including the Red Sea.
Damsel Fish: Found globally in tropical, subtropical, and temperate waters.
Grouper Fish (Blue & Yellow): Native to the reefs in the Indian Ocean.
Parrot Fish: Native to Indo-Pacific Oceans and the Mediterranean Sea.
Rabbit Fish: Native to northeast Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea.
Sweetlips Fish: Native to the coral reefs and moderately warm waters in the Western Pacific Ocean, although its primary habitat is the Great Barrier Reef.
Wrasse Fish (Ballan & Fairy): Native the coral reefs and rocky shores of tropical and subtropical waters of the Atlantic, Indian, and Pacific Oceans and the Mediterranean Sea. The Ballan wrasse is found as far north as Sweden.
