Little biographical information is available for Serena Caswell Lane; however, she is known for still life paintings, especially those including lemons. Her paintings have been sold through major auction houses and she is included in the “Artist’s Bluebook” (Dunbier, 2005). This painting is reminiscent of her painting “Still Life with Bottles and Lemons” (1889); however, it is more finely executed with a hint more color.
