In the 1950s, 
Joséphine broke new barriers by stipulating in her contract at EL RANCHO in Las Vegas that "Negros" could attend her performances. After agreeing to her demands, EL RANCHO denied entrance to Black ticket buyers at the premiere event.

Joséphine responded by just sitting on the stage, not budging until they allowed the Black ticket buyers to enter and be seated. Finally, they complied.

In this interpretation,  I continue to merge aspects of #artdeco with contemporary flourishes, both abstract and figurative, juxtaposing "what was" and "what could have been."
