The Power of Pencil

Power of Pencil

ArtCan / March 20 - April 22, 2023

https://www.artcan.org.uk/virtual-gallery/

ArtCan is pleased to present the first virtual exhibition in its virtual gallery for its 10th anniversary
year, ‘The Power of Pencil’. The exhibition comprises 103 contemporary works by 45 ArtCan artists
celebrating the pencil.

“This exhibition unites ArtCan artists of all mediums. I wanted to discover their ideas. What was
the first thing they saw or thought about that would come to life using a pencil? Perhaps by mark
making they were simply making abstract ideas come to life using a pencil?” comments curator
Cath Stocker.

This year Cath collaborated with musician and composer Cara Tivey who has provided the
exhibition's soundscape. Cara released her solo L.P 'Zone' in Nov 2022, a diverse selection of piano
pieces she created during and after lockdown.

The design of the ArtCan virtual gallery is curated by the talented Tom Dale @TD360.
