Completed in 1992, The Merry-Go-World installation stages the mysteries of birth, life, and individual futures in an eight sided carousel. Viewers spin a wheel of fortune and step inside one of the eight interiors ranging from the luxury of Paris to middle-class Beijing to the poverty of Houston’s Fifth Ward. Edward and Nancy Reddin Kienholz traveled the world collecting ideas, materials, and experiences to include in the installation.
