Louis A. and Frances B. Wagner Lecture Series Isabelle Dervaux presents Surrealism and the American Imagination American Surrealism differed from the movement that originated in France in the 1920s as artists reinterpreted Dalí’s dreamlike imagery in the context of the Great Depression and under the influence of the American realist tradition. Dervaux is the Acquavella Curator of Modern and Contemporary Drawings at the Morgan Library & Museum, New York. In 2005, she organized Surrealism USA, a major survey on Surrealism in the United States. Tickets are available for McNay members $10, nonmembers $20, educators and students with an I.D. $5.
