Star-studded L.A. MOCA 30th Anniversary gala raises $3.5 million

Attended by artists such as Jeff Koons, and Hollywood stars including Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, a lavish benefit for the Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art raised over $3.5 million on Sunday night. Famously on the verge of collapse less than a year ago, before a $30 million bail-out by billionaire-philanthropist Eli Broad, L.A. MOCA displayed its Rothkos, Warhols, and Pollocks and auctioned off a pink Damien Hirst-painted grand piano for $450,000 to art dealer Larry Gagosian after a performance art piece by Lady Gaga and artist Francesco Vezzoli.
