Asia Week in New York

Lacquered luxuries and dragon thrones are among the gems to be showcased next week in New York. Dealers in Asian art and antiques, mostly located on the Upper East Side, will open their doors to the public for a look at five millenniums' worth of treasures. Many participating galleries are hosting special exhibitions, or displaying the best of their inventory, from 12th-century Korean celadon bowls to exquisite 17th-century Japanese screens.
Concurrent to the dealer openings, New York auction houses and museums will host a suite of Asian art events. A Japanese antiques show at the Ukrainian Institute, at 2 East 79th Street, opens this weekend, where a tiger painting will be at Leighton R. Longhi’s booth.
