The Mira Hong Kong

Fine Art Asia 2010, from October 3 to 6, as well as the many fall art and antiques auctions, will bring visitors to Hong Kong who may happily discover the city's current hotspot for dinner, drinks, or sweet dreams.

The Mira Hong Kong is the latest jewel in the crown of the Design Hotels chain. This glittering boutique hotel overlooking Kowloon Park has recently been transformed from traditional icon to a beacon of high style.

Lifestyle guru Colin Cowie and Miami-based interior architect Charles Allem have infused the Mira with a memorable touch of Hollywood glamour. Modernist furnishings by such designers as Arne Jacobsen mix with natural textures and sleek, sumptuous materials. The effect is a striking, upscale feel.

Allem says: “Each facet of this exquisite diamond, set in the heart of Hong Kong, is designed to fascinate and mesmerise. My vision has been to leave an indelible mark on the mind, body and soul.”

The hotel has six distinct dining and bar establishments, including COCO, a coffee and chocolate lounge; Yamm, with Japanese-infused international fare; and Vibes, a new al fresco terrace lounge with lotus-shaped open fires, running waterways, bamboo groves and private cabanas..

This week, William Girard, former chef at Al Mahara, the Burj Al Arab Dubai’s fine dining restaurant, unveils his new menu for the European dining option, WHISK. His signature French dishes will be injected with an Asian twist.

Guest rooms (rates: HKD 3,000 - HKD 48,000) feature cutting edge technology offset by personalized color schemes and handpicked modernist furnishings. There are eight metallic, purple-hued Speciality Suites with private balconies overlooking the city or opening to leafy terraces.

The extravagant ballroom has LEDs with 25,000 different lighting styles to choose from and features 18 custom-made chandeliers comprised of over 20 tons of hand-cut Czech crystals.

For relaxation, the lavendar-scented MiraSpa, with its infinty edge pool and waterbed floatation lounges, offers a host of tempting services.
