A three-footed bronze skillet, with provenance tracking ownership to Paul Revere, sold for $2,500 to the Paul Revere House at the Thomaston Place Auction Galleries’ 2011 Summer Fine Art, Antiques & Jewelry Auction.  Live online bidding for the sale, which took place August 27, 2011, was offered by Arfact Live.

The skillet is engraved on its underside “Paul Revere’s Skillet, given to John P. Reynolds by his aunt Maria A. Revere.”  Maria A. Revere was the granddaughter of the famed American silversmith and patriot.  Her nephew John P. Reynolds notably purchased the Revere House in Boston in 1902, restored it and opened it to the public in 1908.

The skillet was purchased by the Paul Revere House, which today serves as a popular museum and tourist attraction for those interested in Paul Revere and colonial life in Boston.  Ninety percent of the structure is original, and the house boasts an impressive collection of colonial furnishings, including many items originally owned by the Revere family.
