A 40-inch egg by Jeff Koons has already cracked $360,000 in a charity auction of jumbo decorated eggs commissioned by Fabergé. The Big Egg Hunt auction hosted by Paddle8 is taking online bids for 260 specially-conceived eggs by prominent artists and designers.

With more than a week left to go for the online auction, the Koons egg has already busted the previous record for a work sold on Paddle8 held by a Dan Colen painting that fetched $260,000.

Also under the hammer are eggs by Tracey Emin, Zaha Hadid, Julian Schnabel, Ralph Lauren, Bruce Weber, Emma Clegg, Marc Quinn, Peter Beard, Tommy Hilfiger, Peter Max, Terry Richardson, David Sale, and others.

Hadid's egg is at $31,000 and Emin’s egg is up to $17,000, as of Monday night. Paddle8's site says the event is 100% charitable, raising money for children in New York City through Studio in a School, and conservation efforts through Elephant Family, saving the endangered Asian elephant and its habitat.
