Loretta Kaufman to Exhibit with NAWA's Exhibition "Transparency" in Washington, DC

Loretta Kaufman’s acrylic painting “Animated Forms VI (The Inner Core): Circle of Life Series” was selected to be part of Transparency, a National Association of Women Artists’ Exhibition in February 2019. The exhibition was open to work in any medium that can be viewed visually (opacity, ethereal, historically and/or socially openness and accountability) produced by juried members nationwide. The exhibition was curated by Dr. Eric Keel former head of Education at the Keeger Museum In Washington, DC. There are 56 works on view at the Arts Club of Washington, Monroe Gallery, 2107 “I” Street NW, Washington, DC. February 1 – 23, 2019. Gallery hours are Tue-Fri 10 am – 5 pm, Sat 10 am – 2 pm. Established in 1889, NAWA is the first established professional women’s art organization in the US. NAWA’s documented exhibitions are archived within the Smithsonian Institution Archives; The Museum of Modern Art; the Metropolitan Museum of Art; the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum; the Whitney Museum of American Art; the Art Institute of Chicago; the Library of Congress; the National Museum of Women in the Arts; the Frick Art Reference Library; and the New York Public Library. NAWA’s ongoing mission is to continue to support public awareness of the visual art created by women throughout the United States.
About the Artist
In nearly five decades Nashville sculptor and painter, Loretta Kaufman, has produced work in several media that focus on the environment, and currently works with both oil and acrylic paints. Her oil painting :Three of A Kind: Series HR is published in Peter Waldor’s limited edition book of poetry, Gate Posts with No Gate – The Leg Paint Project. Released in Spring 2018, readings and exhibitions throughout the US, Canada and abroad are planned in 2018-2019. The book carries an endorsement from Sean Hemingway.
Loretta’s sculpture and paintings have been juried into numerous international online exhibitions including Fusion Art’s Elemental – Air, Fire Earth in 2015; Waterscapes, Animal Kingdom, 2nd Annual Figures & Faces in 2016. She won an Honorable Mention Award for the acrylic painting “There Is Safety In Numbers (Variation I): Environment Series in Colors in 2017; had work included in Colors and Colorful Abstractions in 2018; her sculpture “Double Monologues I: The Celia Series” received an Honorable Mention in Women Artists in 2018; “Kingfisher With Minnow & Dragonfly” was one of 3 paintings from the Circle of Life Series included in Artist’s Choice in August 2018. This canvas went on to receive the Cecile Adler Cliffer Memorial Cutting Edge Award in the National Association of Women Artists 129th Annual Members’ Exhibition in New York City in October 2018. The award was open to all media from 248 works submitted by juried NAWA members nationwide.
