Anu Shah, Chief Designer and COO, and Laura Custodie, Interior Designer of Cutting Edge Homes Architects + Builders of Ashland are excited to announce they have been selected to participate in the Junior League of Boston’s 2017 Designer Show House. The 46th Anniversary Designer Show House will see the total transformation of more than 20 rooms of the 1853 William Flagg Homer House in Belmont, Massachusetts. This premier design event will be held October 7 – November 5, 2017 and will feature the creative talents of the Boston area’s finest designers. All proceeds will go exclusively to fund the Junior League of Boston’s charitable mission.

Cutting Edge Homes Architects + Builders will transform the Grand Foyer and Upstairs Landing of the historic home descended through the family of noted American artist Winslow Homer, now owned and maintained by the Belmont Woman’s Club. The house, an architectural combination of both the Bracketed Italianate and French Mansard style, is set on a hill in Belmont, with sweeping views of the Boston skyline. The transformation of this historic mansion will raise funds to further the mission of the Junior League of Boston’s vital community impact programs that serve the women and children of Greater Boston. It is also a significant stepping stone for the Belmont Woman’s Club’s capital campaign, which seeks to reconstruct the home to ensure safety and access to all visitors, and eventually transition the property into a house museum.

“Our inspiration for the foyer comes from the colors of the pre-dawn sky”, notes Laura. “A sweeping fuchsia emphasizes the grand curvilinear stair. We are highlighting the existing Italianate architecture through heightened contrast.”

The completed Designer Show House will launch with a VIP Preview Party on Wednesday, October 4 for designers, sponsors and friends. The house will open to the public on Saturday October 7 and will be open for viewing every Wednesday through Sunday through November 5, with special hours on Columbus Day (Monday, October 9).
