Laura Mosquera, The Day It Started, Acrylic and Gouache on Canvas, 57" x 57.5" x 1.5"

NEW YORK, NY – Chelsea’s Agora Gallery will feature the original work of  Laura Mosquera in The Latin American Contemporary Fine Art Competition. The exhibition opens December 5 and runs through December 15, 2018 with an opening reception on Thursday, December 6 from 6-8 pm. Any art lover who enjoys thought-provoking artworks and meeting talented and interesting artists is encouraged to attend.

About the Artist

Artist Laura Mosquera is known for her irregularly-shaped paintings with shades of bright, energetic color. Bucking tradition, she shapes and molds the canvas like a tool, giving herself the freedom to explore new possibilities.

In Not Enough To Stay, two canvases stick together like magnets. A series of colorful lines run parallel around the edge, only to collapse into chaos at the other end of the frame. Fusing these two objects together, the work seems to reference the nature of all human relationships, the ties that bind and our need for independence and freedom.
