FORT LAUDERDALE, FL.- In an expanding venture to expose curious collectors to own pieces of history, Minerva Gallery in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, is hosting a sale Titled 'Ancient Arts from the Americas', where objects dating from 1100 B.C to 1550 A.D., as well as wonderful decorative antique objects of the 20th century will be sold in a live online setting on Nov. 24th at 11 am EST.
The sale offers a large range of ancient objects catering to beginning collectors living on a limited budget, as well as many objects for the very serious and seasoned collector. Highlights include a scarce collection of ancient necklaces from the ancient cultures of South America to the Conquest era; Olmec objects, rare Pre-classic stone masks, Maya figurines, Peruvian bottles, Anasazi bowls, ancient Costa Rican pendants, pottery, weaponry and more Ancient Art objects spanning a period of 3,000 years.
Some of the objects of interest in the sale include an extremely rare Mixtec Polychrome Vessel (Est. $4000-$6,000) that once belonged to Royalty from the Cholula/Puebla region of Mexico. A large Pre-columbian Colima Dog vessel which would of been placed in a shaft tomb and suggested to safely guard the deceased to the afterlife (Est.$4,000-$5,000). Also, a very rare Muisca Tumbaga pendant(Est. $600-$800), a massive Chontal Maskette dating to the Pre-classic period and expected to bring in $4,000-$6,000.
As well as a very large Mezcala Mask estimated to bring in $4,000-$6,000. Additional highlight include a Huge 11" Nayarit head fragment that would of belonged to a monumental size figure.(Est. $400-$750). Also, a very large Blue Jade Olmec 'spoon' (Est. $3,000-$4,000) from the Alan Long Collection acquired from the Ron Messick Gallery in Santa Fe, New Mexico. A similar example can be found in the Denver Museum of Art Collection.
