The “True Vision” exhibit celebrates work of Gallery One artists, a diverse group of established artists representing different backgrounds and artistic traditions. The eight Connecticut artists share a commitment to each unique voice. “True Vision” celebrates new works, many of which were created while sheltering in place during these challenging times. Member Artists include: Victor Filepp (New London), Ann Knickerbocker (Old Saybrook), Molly McDonald (Branford), T. Willie Raney (Ivoryton), Diana Rogers (Clinton), Rick Silberberg (Ivoryton), and Jill Vaughn (Ivoryton). Kathleen DeMeo (Old Lyme) is an Invited Artist.

“During the pandemic, we miss the camaraderie of fellow art lovers and the tactile and spiritual connection we get when immersing ourselves in art. We were not able to hold our exhibit in the planned gallery setting, given the need for social distancing and have created an online virtual gallery for viewing,” explains artist Jill Vaughn. “As I look at this new exhibit, I can see how the differing interpretations of each artist's environment helps move us through these times,” she adds.

“Some works in the exhibit are inspired by nature's beauty, some share familiar relationships, some works are socially provocative, and others connect to the poetic word,” artist Diana Rogers observes. “In the new work I created, I saw the world through a color-forward lens and share nature’s vision for healing connections.”

The exhibit includes many artistic styles including representational and abstract works. Artist Ann Knickerbocker states, "When I am asked how I make abstract art, I describe a process that starts with an idea and a vision. Once I enter the studio, the idea and a few connected images start to emerge from the blank canvas to become a finished work that celebrates the original idea.”

The show opens for viewing on the gallery’s virtual exhibit platform on Friday, September 4 and runs through Saturday, October 31. To view the virtual show visit the Gallery One website at www.galleryonect.com.

With the desire to stay connected with the community, the artists have planned a virtual opening event on Zoom on Saturday, September 26 from 7-8 pm and will include a virtual gallery tour and meet the artists gathering. To join the virtual opening via Zoom, visit www.galleryonect.com.
