“Clouds” by, Percy Bysshe Shelley
“Over earth and ocean, with gentle motion,
This pilot is guiding me…The sanguine Sunrise, with his meteor eyes,
And his burning plumes outspread…And the crimson pall of eve may fall
From the depth of Heaven above…When the whirlwinds my banner unfurl.
From cape to cape, with a bridge like shape, Over a torrent sea…I am the daughter of Earth and Water, And the nursling of the Sky; I pass through the pores of the ocean and shores;
I change, but I cannot die…”
During the month of November, for the online weather art competition, Contemporary Art Gallery’s contestants illustrated biting and gentle interpretations of arid seasons we have all learned to expect. Competition results were announced on, December 14, 2015.
Artist, Elaine Hunter was awarded, Best in Show for her “Snow Fences” interplay where opaque and dark wavelengths part to establish a likeness of remnants of heaven and sea.
The Paintings category yielded familiar assimilations of burly winds, rising tides, crude landscapes and winter chateau: Artist, Eleanor Gilpatrick received First Place for “After the Storm”; Second Place was awarded to Valeri Leri for “Gathering Storm”; Tricia Eisen received Third Place for “Summer Breeze” and Fourth Place was awarded to, Elina Grosul for “Winter Morning”.
Both Woebegone and reflective, the artists’ photography themes unfurled as tumultuous tempests and cirrostratus reckonings. Artist, Robert Schwartzman received First Place for “The Storm is Coming”; Chip Miller Second Place for “Pennsylvania Storm” and Luke Engle received Third Place for “Omen”.
Honorable Recognitions were awarded to, Ralph White for “Burning Sky” and to, Joan Miller for “Snow Pellets” whose works proved reminiscent and equally impressive.
