On Sunday, September 30th, CRN Auctions will conduct their Annual Fall Auction of antiques and fine arts at their gallery in Cambridge, MA offering a mix of items ranging in geographical origin and spanning the 17th through mid 20th centuries.
Among the approx. 80 lots of works of art offered, included, from the estate of artist William C. Collins, is a large Op-Art canvas by Julian Stanczak, and an abstract by Afro Basadella (both works were acquired from the artist). A color lithograph by Paul Cezanne, purchased in Paris in the 1950’s, is also from the Collins estate. These three works are on the market the first time since he acquired them. American antique furniture is always present at CRN Auctions including an 18th c. Chippendale ox-bow desk with ball and claw feet and original brass, and two sideboards attrib. to Salem cabinetmaker William Hook, the other to the Seymours of Boston. Accessories include a collection of 19th c. sailor made and nautical items such as ditty boxes, whalebone items, and shell valentines. English furniture includes a George II red and gold chinoiserie secretary/desk and a pair of George II sidechairs from a Cambridge, MA. Brattle Street home.
Also being sold is antique and 20th c. silver, Chinese Export porcelains, carpets, European porcelains, French and other Continental furniture and accessories, and more.
