Chinese Coins, Antiques & Western Paintings Abound June 21 at 888 Auctions

Richmond Hill, ON – As the temperatures continue to rise, the sell-through rates and hammer prices continue to steadily climb at 888 Auctions. The high sell-through rates have become an effective barometer for the Canadian auction house and it is with those high hopes that 888 Auctions will be featuring 393 fresh-to-market items including a variety of Chinese Coins, Antiques and Western Paintings.
Starring as the cover lot of the auction and nestled within the numerous rare Chinese coins featured in the June 21 sale is Lot 208, a Chinese Qing Dynasty Daoguang Period (1820-1850) Tongbao Flower coin. With the reverse lettering Wan Nian Tian and of leaf form, the flower charm coin is expected to far exceed its high estimate of $400.
Three other coins have also been garnering interest from numismatists and collectors and are featured at the following lots below:
Lot 161: Yuan Dayuan (1308-1311) Tongbao Hartill 19.46 (High Estimate: $900)
Lot 206: Qing Zhengde (1644-1912) Tongbao Flower Money (High Estimate: 100)
Lot 213: China 2 Jin Shan Yang (400-300BC) Hartill 3.26 Spade (High Estimate: $3,000)
Asian antiques continue to produce strong results, albeit with hammer prices within the estimates. Two pieces have attracted considerable interest over the past few days and are sure to be in demand from discerning bidders. Lot 267 is a Burma Green Jadeite Bangle with Certificate with a high estimate of $1,500. The other piece is Lot 323, a Chinese Decorative Dragon & Phoenix Wood Disk carrying a conservative high estimate of $350.

Lot 56: Tamara De Lempicka Polish 1898-1980 Charcoal on Paper (High Estimate: $9,000)
Lot 107: Le Corbusier French 1887-1965 Oil On Canvas (High Estimate: 6,000)
Lot 108: Marc Chagall Russian-French 1887-1985 Oil On Board (High Estimate: $6,500)
Lot 139: Gustav Klimt Austrian 1862-1918 Lithograph 39/75 (High Estimate: $4,000)
