NEW YORK, NY – Chelsea’s Agora Gallery will feature the original work of Oleg Kirnos in On Earth and Elsewhere. The exhibition opens January 4 and runs through January 24, 2019 with an opening reception on Thursday, January 10 from 6-8 pm. Any art lover who enjoys thought-provoking artworks and meeting talented and interesting artists is encouraged to attend.

About the Artist

Oleg Kirnos is a Ukrainian painter from the city of Dnipro. Kirnos is a representational artist whose work is influenced by Post-impressionism, Expressionism and Post-modernism. He is especially interested in themes relating to nature and portraiture. Demonstrating the same dexterity, sensitivity and sensuality in rendering landscapes and portraits alike, Kirnos creates expressive, colorful canvases. In his portraits, such as Gypsy or Autumn Face, he not only grasps the character of the sitter, but adds his own lyrical interpretation and dramatic effect.

Kirnos is a naturally gifted artist who began painting at an early age by attending an art studio for children led by a well-known Ukrainian painter, Natalia Tarasenko. Even then his artwork won him several prestigious awards. Later, the harsh economic reality of his native country drove him to pursue metallurgy and engineering, and to eventually found his own  business. Nonetheless, Kirnos has never stopped painting. He works mostly with oil, though through the years he has also experimented with watercolor, drawing, and sculpture.

About the Exhibition

On Earth and Elsewhere unpacks the ramifications of human influence on the earth. Comprising ten artists, each work displays an image of humanity’s place in the surrounding cosmos. Taking as its point of departure different images humanity has had of itself across history, the exhibition offers something like a timeline of what humanity has accomplished, as well as what it stands to lose in the face of pressing realities like climate change.
