"Helen LaFrance Folk Art Memories," written by Kathy Moses, with Bruce 

Shelton and a foreword by Lee Kogan (The American Folk Art Museum, 

NYC), focuses on the life and work of this talented self-taught 

Southern artist. Born in 1919 in western Kentucky, LaFrance is an 

exceptional painter, quilter, wood carver, and Biblical interpreter  

whose real skill is her ability to connect with the viewer 

emotionally through the memories they both share.
