RAGO HOLDS A $2.1 MILLION AUCTION WEEKEND, SEPTEMBER 12-14, 2014.

Lambertville, NJ: Rago Arts and Auction Center's three-day auction on September 12, 13 and 14 resulted in total sales of $2,114,919 for the auction house and its consignors.

“This auction was notable for the inauguration of online bidding on two new platforms - Bidsquare (www.bidsquare.com) and the Rago site. Both sites performed very well throughout the sales. We are particularly excited about the potential for Bidsquare. Results were strong for property pretty well across the board, as shown by the top lots,” said Miriam Tucker, Managing Partner. “We were disappointed mainly by the lack of interest in a number of the Asian lots, which we are still trying to figure out. The core of the Great Estates auction consisted of fresh to market property from New York, New Jersey, New England and Florida consigned through Estate Services, which works with executors, fiduciaries, attorneys and estate planners nationwide. Lot 1512,  Paul Jouve’s etching, "Walking Panther", from a New York City estate, sold for $13,750 against an estimate of $3,000-5,000. Lot 1550, a George III dining table from a Connecticut estate, sold for $8,250 against an estimate of $2,000-4,000.  The top lot in Saturday's Great Estates sale, the Myochin School snake in articulated iron, came to us from private sellers, as does the majority of our property. They had seen the results for the Myochin School snake we sold in December 2013. At $37,500, it didn’t come close to the selling price for the first. The family’s children had enjoyed playing with it too much for that. Still, not bad for a much loved toy.”
